A month can pass in seven days.

It always amazes me how time passes. It's been only seven days since I paused to share a little about my life with you all, but it feels like it has been a month or more.

If I talked about EVERYTHING that has gone on, you might lose interest. As I'm sure you know, being busy doesn't necessarily imply that it's all fun and excitement. Here is quite possibly the most interesting thing that happened in the last week:

I have decided to work on a few people campaigns this year. It is often very hard for candidates to find people to help, and being a young, energetic, idealistic lad, I thought I could offer my services. I got contacted by one candidate, which shall remain nameless for the moment. We talked a bit, and I pledged to help out. I was expecting to be going door-to-door, making phone calls, or stuffing envelopes. I am not yet a professional, and figured on being the whipping boy until I had earned my stripes. Nope. My candidate contacts me, tells me that my computer skills are needed, and that I am to be her data manager. I've never been a manager before, and I'm still wrapping my brain around what a "data manager" is.

All I know is that I have 26 Excel spreadsheets full of data to examine and organize...somehow. I think I'm going to get on that. More to come...

Cheers,
Jack, Data Manager

To the pursuit of happiness,
or at least 15 more minutes of sleep.

I know I'm not alone in this, but it seems harder and harder to wake up in the morning. It's summer! I am supposed to be relaxing by a pool, sleeping late, and enjoying not being in classes. Instead I woke up early on Monday to go to an IT committee meeting, followed by a follow-up meeting with some of the Student Government members. Happy Monday!

I love what I do, and I wouldn't give up all the opportunities that I have been given, but I do need a vacation. At least I'm not taking classes over the break. To those who are, I salute you. It seems that I will be one of those college students that takes four and a half or five years to graduate. Such is life. I'd rather take longer to finish than lose my mind to finish "on time."

I may be getting ahead of myself though. I guess an introduction is appropriate. My full name is Aaron Timothy "Jack" Wylie. Most people call me Jack, but I don't mind either. I grew up in Arvada, Colorado (I'm a 7th generation of Arvada). I began my college career here at Metro studying Music and Political Science. I have served as President of the Student Government Assembly (SGA) since the special election in the Fall of '05. Those are the basics.

To continue, I do love my job. The SGA is so important, and I hope that the sleep that I'm losing over it will pay off in the future. Sleep is nice, but no one ever gets remembered for being really good at sleeping. More to come...

Cheers,
Jack
